David Lafrance has a unique and intriguing style. His paintings focus on specific themes like the beauty and power of the human body, culture, or the nature and the chase of pleasure in our modern society. His artistic references are from Folk art, modern painting and contemporary fashion.
Lafrance was born near Montreal, Québec, in 1976. He graduated from Concordia University where he majored in painting and drawing. Among many awards, there, he received the Guido Molinari Prize for academic achievement. He currently lives and works in Montreal, Quebec.
His recent work in painting, drawing, and sculpture is shown in east Canada and The United-States. Recently, he has won two québec council grants in two years.
Lafrance’s work also includes modern music and noise making using old turntables and personal recordings.
